Stabilization of Systems with One Degree of Underactuation with Energy Shaping: A Geometric Approach

چکیده

A geometric formulation for stabilization of systems with one degree of underactuation which fully solves the energy shaping problem for these system is given. The results show that any linearly controllable simple mechanical system with one degree of underactuation is stabilizable by energy shaping, even in the absence of gyroscopic force, via a closed-loop metric which is not necessarily positive-definite. An example of a system with one degree of underactuation is provided for which the stabilization by energy shaping method is not achievable, in the absence of gyroscopic forces, using a positive-definite closed-loop metric.

A geometric approach to energy shaping

In this thesis is initiated a more systematic geometric exploration of energy shaping. Most of the previous results have been dealt with particular cases and neither the existence nor the space of solutions has been discussed with any degree of generality. The geometric theory of partial differential equations originated by Goldschmidt and Spencer in late 1960’s is utilized to analyze the parti...

Energy Shaping for Systems with Two Degrees of Underactuation

In this thesis we are going to study the energy shaping problem on controlled Lagrangian systems with degree of underactuation less than or equal to two. Energy shaping is a method of stabilization by designing a suitable feedback control force on the given controlled Lagrangian system so that the total energy of the feedback equivalent system has a non-degenerate minimum at the equilibrium. Th...

Stable Gait Planning and Robustness Analysis of a Biped Robot with One Degree of Underactuation

In this paper, stability analysis of walking gaits and robustness analysis are developed for a five-link and four-actuator biped robot. Stability conditions are derived by studying unactuated dynamics and using the Poincaré map associated with periodic walking gaits. A stable gait is designed by an optimization process satisfying physical constraints and stability conditions. Also, considering...

Potential and Kinetic Shaping for Control of Underactuated Mechanical Systems

This paper combines techniques of potential shaping with those of kinetic shaping to produce some new methods for stabilization of mechanical control systems. As with each of the techniques themselves, our method employs energy methods and the LaSalle invariance principle. We give explicit criteria for asymptotic stabilization of equilibria of mechanical systems which, in the absence of control...

Time-Invariant State Feedback Control Laws for a Special Form of Underactuated Nonlinear Systems Using Linear State Bisection

Linear state bisection is introduced as a new method to find time-invariant state feedback control laws for a special form of underactuated nonlinear systems. The specialty of the systems considered is that every unactuated state should be coupled with at least two directly actuated states. The basic idea is based on bisecting actuated states and using linear combinations with adjustable parame...
